How to make an Instagram grid from one photo

  1. Choose 3, 6, 9 or 12 posts

Upload one image and select one to four rows. Each row has three tiles. For nine tall 1080 × 1440 posts with no resizing or crop, prepare a 3240 × 4320 source.

  2. Match your profile preview

Choose 3:4, 4:5 or square tiles. Crop once across the complete grid or preserve the full image with padding. Check faces and text across the cut lines. These are selectable output shapes, not a guarantee about every Instagram account’s thumbnail layout.

  3. Download and publish in order

The ZIP filenames start with the posting number. Publish 001 first, then 002, through the highest number. For a 3 × 3 grid, 001 is the bottom-right tile and 009 is the top-left tile.

  4. Check the profile

This arrangement assumes three columns with newest posts first. Pinned posts, rearranged posts, mixed thumbnail shapes or additional posts can break the picture. Confirm each thumbnail crop in the app.

An Instagram photo splitter for a puzzle feed

A puzzle feed connects separate posts into one larger picture on your profile. To split a photo into 9 pieces, choose three rows: the tool creates three columns automatically. Check the whole composition, then download the numbered posts.

For nine square posts at 1080 × 1080, a 3240 × 3240 source fits without cropping or resizing. For nine tall 3:4 posts, use 3240 × 4320. Keep important text away from the cut lines and inspect your profile thumbnail crops before publishing.

Profile grid or carousel?

A picture across separate posts

Use this grid maker for a large image spanning your profile. Tiles publish in reverse visual order so the newest post lands at the top-left.

A picture across one swipeable post

Use the Instagram carousel splitter for a continuous horizontal strip. Its slides are numbered left to right and selected together in one post.

Grid maker questions

Can I make a 3 × 3 or 3 × 4 grid?

Yes. Select three rows for nine posts or four rows for twelve. Columns stay at three. For other row and column combinations without resizing, use the general image splitter.

Does this post to Instagram?

No. It creates numbered files on your device. You decide when and how to publish them. ImageSplitKit is independent and is not affiliated with Instagram or Meta.

Are these original-size cuts?

This tool crops or fits your photo to the chosen grid and resizes it to 720 or 1080 pixels per tile. PNG avoids extra lossy encoding. JPEG and WebP use 90% quality. For untouched original-size regions, use the general splitter.

Do I need an account, and is there a watermark?

No account, payment or watermark. All image processing and ZIP generation happen in your browser. Inputs are JPG, PNG or WebP up to 20 MiB, 24 megapixels and 16,384 px per side. Animated images become a still frame. Exported files are limited to 128 MiB in total.
